The Dumbbell bench Press will help develop the pectoralis major or chest muscles in the body. being one of the more popular chest exercises it is important to understand that this movement is very different from the barbell bench press. The main reason is because using dumbbells and holing one in each hand forces more stabilizing muscles to be used and emphasized because the dumbbells are independently being pressed up by each arm. In some cases using a barbell only the stronger of the two arms can sometimes take over and this can develop a strength imbalance in the working muscles of the body. -Mike McErlane
