Explosive stance
I need to know what I can do to help me get out of my football stance faster? I play D Line
Getting out of your football stance faster has a lot to do with your posterior chain-hamstrings, glutes, and calves. Some great exercises for your posterior chain are sumo deadlifts and deep squats. Both exercises put much emphasis on the glutes and hamstrings. These muscles are typically undertrained by athletes. When performing these exercises for the posterior chain, do 4 sets of 3-5 reps. If you are going to do less than 3 reps, make sure you have a spotter and don’t go that heavy more than once a week. Perform the reps in a controlled manner but focus on being explosive. Slow reps don’t translate to the football field. To check out a video of how to perform the sumo deadlift and the deep squat, go to my video series, “POWER UP.” Train hard and best of luck in the upcoming football season!
