Post Workout Carbs
Hello. I’m confused as to how many carbs I’m supposed to consume immediately after my workout. I know I should be taking fast digesting carbs and protein, but how many carbs? I’ve heard that immediately after a workout one should take between 4 percent to 7 percent of your body weight in carbs. Is that true? If it is, can you tell me which percentage is exact?
Thanks. Ray C.

A: Post workout carb formulas should not differ that much from your normal nutrition plan. In my view, at the highest level of carb intake, your carb intake should be equal to your protein intake. If you are under 200-lbs then 30-40 gram of protein and carbs is a good bet, if you are over 200-lbs then you could go up to 45-50 grams of protein and carbs post workout and get all the benefits of full recovery and growth.
