Is it neccessary to squeeze your shoulder blades together during the bench press and other chest pressing exercises to make the chest do most of the work?
That was a good question. I have always done my pushups and presses as a “Push-up plus” accentuating the serratus anterior. I have hyper-mobile shoulders which always get sore, and have also seen the articles saying to keep your shoulders back to take them out of the movement(to a point). Upon performing them myself, keeping the scapulae retracted I did find to have more chest work and less pain the shoulders. Try it yourself and see the difference! ;)
