Calories Burned
Hi…I’ve been noticing that I am no longer burning the same amount of calories I used to. I’m in pretty good shape and have a resting HR of around 47-50 right when I wake up in the morning.
I do both resistance and cardio on every workout and change up my routine pretty regularly to promote muscle confusion and growth but I used to be able to burn about 700 calories in a 2 hour session. Now I can barely break the 500 mark which can be pretty frustrating since I’m spending so much time for such a small return.
I’m working out just as hard if not harder and don’t really know what to make of this. I don’t want to extend my workouts because 2 hours is already a long time but I’m not sure what is going on with my body that I cannot maintain a higher caloric burn. What do you suppose is going on?
firstly, have you lost weight? Crazy as it sounds, the more weight you lose, the less calories you burn at the same intensity. In addition, your body is smart and adapts well to exercise. You said you are working harder… what exactly does that mean? HAve you been lifting more weight? A big oversight for women afraid of getting bulky… you must lift more or/ or change your training… drop sets, super sets, tri sets, etc. Also, how is your diet? Make sure you are eating enough to maintain the intensity of the workout. Also, are you adding a rest day and getting enough sleep. You could be overtraining!
